Here is what some people had to say:
I’ve been a Lucy fan ever since I did a book report on Lucy for English class at school. My mother and I attended Lucy’s Birthday Celebration and we both had a wonderful time! This was our first visit to Jamestown. When we first got to the festival, my mother and I went into the Gift Shop. We both spent some time browsing and buying and then we went into the Museums. I even get to play the games on the computer, too. Then we went into the playhouse so we could take a look inside. Later on in the afternoon, we even got a picture taken with Lucy and Ethel! I was excited and in awe when I first saw them and I was blushing a little. I even gave Lucy and Ethel friendship bracelets since it was Lucy’s birthday and they were very pleased. I can’t wait to go back to Jamestown again next year and I’ll bet that my mother and I will have the best time.
Thank you, Jamestown, for a great experience!

My name is Debbie and I have been a Lucy fan for 11 years. This was my second visit to Jamestown but my first to see the festival and it was beyond my expectations. The festival was very well planned and my fiancé and I had a great time!
We attended the Lucy Under the Stars, the Trivia Contest (I was contestant #4 on the 1st round), and her birthday party.
I also enjoyed watching the Lucy and Ethel look-a-likes and I even got a picture with them! It was quite an experience. I can’t wait to go back to Jamestown for their next big event!

My husband, daughter and I attended Lucy’s Birthday Celebration and had a wonderful time. The people that work in Jamestown were kind and helpful. Seeing the hot air balloons at night was a thrill.
We had not been in this part of New York State before and it was great fun! Thank you for allowing us to visit your hometown.
Sincerely,
Ann
I recently attended Lucy’s Birthday Celebration (August). I came with 3 other friends. We had a great time! It was one of the best times I’ve ever had. I am a big Lucy fan and this was my first visit to Jamestown. We hope to return for her 100th birthday celebration.
Thank you, Jamestown, for such a great experience!

This was the first time my mother and I attended a festival and we loved it! We arrived in time for birthday cake in the downtown square and were in awe of how much the Lucy and Ethel look-alikes really looked liked Lucy and Ethel!
We enjoyed the Playhouse and Museum and shopped around downtown before boarding the bus for our 2-hour tour. Our tour guide was Lucy, and she was perfect! She was enthusiastic and knew everything and obviously just loved doing the tours…. she loves Lucy just like the rest of us! Bob Schiller was on our bus and we thought that was great!
Later that night we ventured out to watch some ‘Lucy under the stars’ and I tell everyone how much fun that was! Saturday morning we attended the lost Lucy movie breakfast event and loved it. I loved seeing the animated beginning to “I Love Lucy” that I never knew existed. I feel fortunate to have talked to both Dann Cahn and Frank Gorey after the event.
I spent some time browsing (and buying!) in the collector showcase and enjoyed seeing the vintage memorabilia. I bought several books in the gift shop and have been reading ever since.
We will definitely be back next year!

I wanted to say THANKS to everyone who contributed to Lucy’s Birthday Celebration! It was my first (certainly not last) visit to Jamestown and the festival. I am counting down the days to the next celebration!
The trip was a surprise anniversary gift from my husband. He purchased a great Lucy/Desi bag for me, and filled it with Lucy goodies… including tickets and directions to the Festival. We attended almost EVERYTHING except two events. I broke the bank at the auction, too, and brought home a few truly unique items to add to my growing Lucy collection that I will treasure for a lifetime.
We met Mr. Gorey and chatted with him extensively on the tour – he was a great guy, and spoke mainly to my husband, as I could only stand – mouth agape – dumbstruck at the stories I was hearing – the PERSONAL accounts that I never would have heard unless I was standing there at that point & time. We were at the cemetery on a bus tour, and actually ‘hung back’ while everyone went for the tour. We walked and talked, and that brief discussion was the highlight of my visit. (The visiting celebrities or family/friends of Lucy & Desi truly touch the hearts of the fans).
Of course, I was speechless when I briefly met Keith Thibodeaux – takes a lot to keep me quiet, and I believe I stuttered a few words & walked out of the book signing in a daze.
We enjoyed EVERYTHING – the Trivia – the many book signings – the incredible impromptu show lead by Melody – the not-to-be missed Improv at the Tropicana Room – Jamestown itself, and it’s murals – the tours – the Playhouse (like stepping back in time onto the actual ILL sets!) – the Museum that captivated me for hours – the I Love Lucy shows under stars, complete with popcorn – and most of all, the PEOPLE – the Lucy Birthday Celebration is a refreshing and WONDAFUL experience that I will treasure always. The Lucy festivals are NOT to be missed, and anyone contemplating a visit will be thrilled!!
Looking forward to seeing all of you again in August!

I wanted to send a thank you to everyone who had anything to do with Lucy’s Birthday Celebration! I had a wonderful time this weekend! This was my first festival. I had visited Jamestown about two years ago and saw some sights and I fell in love, immediately. The opportunity came for me to attend this year’s events and I took it. I am planning on coming back real soon. EVERYONE was so nice, kind, polite, and helpful–in today’s world that means so much! Thank you.
My friend and I attended: The Film Festival Friday night, Improv at the Tropicana Room, meeting Keith Thibodeaux at the Desilu Playhouse, (and the interview, too) the Tour with Lucy’s chauffeur, Frank Gorey, “Happy Anniversary and Goodbye” film, the Lucy and Ethel Variety Show, the party afterwards, the luncheon with Lucy’s secretary, Wanda Clark, and the Lucille Ball Lecture. Plus, visiting some other establishments. We had a great time!
Thanks again for a job well done! Looking forward to seeing you all again in the near future!

I would like to share with you and encourage everyone to definitely plan a trip to one of the festivals you offer at the Lucy-Desi Center. My girlfriend and I leave the husbands and kids at home and go every year. To me it’s not just a fabulous weekend but it carries over all year round. From the moment I drive home from the festival we start making plans for next year. We get together periodically to reminisce about the weekend and all the wonderful fellow fans we have met. When the new Lucy catalog [hyperlink to Shop main page]comes out we start planning what’s on our shopping list. Throughout the year we watch all the episodes over and over again to bulk up on trivia and decide on what costume we are going to attempt for the next Masquerade Ball. As the festival date gets closer we try to guess who will be the next headliner while we anxiously await until the new festival information is posted on the website. As the mission of the Lucy-Desi Center states, you bring me the healing powers of love and laughter all year through.
Thank you for making it possible. All your hard work truly shows.
Sincerely yours,
Marcelles

This was the first festival I attended, and I had such a wonderful time. I really enjoyed visiting Jamestown, and the drive up from Baltimore, Maryland through some of the small towns on the way was also a pleasure. I currently have two rooms in my home dedicated to Lucy memorabilia, and I’m about to overflow into a third (if I only had the space!). The festival was a complete joy, and I have to say the highlight for me was meeting Barbara Eden. I’ve been a Jeannie fan as long as I’ve been a Lucy fan, so to meet and speak briefly with Ms. Eden was a thrill. Also meeting “Lucy” and “Desi” was a treat, as was meeting Mr. William Asher and Lucie Arnaz. I am looking forward to once again attending the festival!
Thank you,
Chuck
